Side Effects and Complications:
- 100% of circumcisions end with complications.....the removal of healthy, functioning skin.
- Careful cleaning must be performed after a circumcision because infections of the raw wound are common.
- Often too much tissue is removed, although this does not become obvious until later, and this can cause painful erections and curvature of the penis.
- Many things can go wrong including hemorrhage, infections and damage to the penis.
- Much of the harm from circumcision does not become apparent until adulthood.
- Circumcision effects the breastfeeding relationship.
- A circumcised penis' can have one or more of these permanent side effects: circumcision scar, hair on shaft of penis from the removal of too much skin, skin bridges or skin tags, a curve to the penis.
- Circumcision causes a loss in length.
- "One hundred and two were circumcised: 43 were not; and two men did not answer. The uncircumcised penises had slightly larger circumferences, but the difference was not significant (2 mm behind the coronal ridge and 3 mm at the glans). There was a significant difference in length, with the uncircumcised men having a mean length 8 mm greater than the circumcised. Insufficient residual foreskin in some circumcised men may have tethered their erections.".
- Every year more than 100 American babies die from circumcision related causes. People are so quick to get rid of a recalled item that caused maybe 30 deaths in four years but circumcision still continues.
